This policy addresses Maternity/Paternity/Parental Leave.

The Department of Internal Medicine complies with provincial and federal legislation with respect to maternity and parental leave.

Contact the Contract Administrator (Beverley Zubriski) who will provide you with the proper forms and guide you through the process.

GFT

  • GFT faculty will be eligible for maternity and parental leaves in accordance with the University of Manitoba Maternity and Parental Leave Policy and Procedure.

  • GFT's receiving the Maternity/Parental Leave Allowance must submit the proper paperwork Contract Administrator (Beverley Zubriski) before the start of the academic term during which the requested leave would occur. If leave with pay is opted for you must also apply for Employment Insurance Benefits.
  • GFT's not receiving the University of Manitoba Maternity/Parental Leave Allowance must submit the proper paperwork to the Contract Administrator (Beverley Zubriski) at least four weeks before the anticipated start date of the leave.
  • In addition to this entitlement, faculty should also apply to the Doctors Manitoba Maternity/Parental Benefit Program.
    • GFT faculty should identify gross clinical income equal to that of the monthly draw in order for Docs Manitoba to calculate the maximum benefit.
  • Draws will be stopped automatically during the period of leave.

  • PSMs should ensure an employee on a maternity leave completes a Maternity Leave (SUB Plan B) - Application for Supplementary Employee Insurance Benefit Form. Located on the WRHA intranet site.
  • Support staff must submit the proper paperwork to the Physician Services Manager at least four weeks before the anticipated start date of the leave. If leave with pay is opted for, you must also apply for Employment Insurance Benefits.
