Target Review Date: | 2020-07-16 |
Main Stakeholder: | Managing Director |
Purpose
Effective development, management and promotion of special events can promote and strengthen the Department of Internal Medicine’s reputation for excellence and is a vital part of doing business effectively. Funds spent on events should:
- Be appropriate to the occasion
- Not be lavish or excessive, or harmful to the department’s reputation.
Pre-Approval
The Department Head must pre-approve all expenditures.
Event Budget
Budgets have been set for each of the categories below. Contact the Managing Director or the Finance Manager for more information. It is recognized that the cost of special events may vary appreciably depending upon the venue and the nature of the function. In this respect, the costs per person should be reasonable and consumption of alcohol should not be excessive. Ordinarily, the department will not fund events for departing faculty - exceptions at the discretion of the Department Head. While expenditures on celebrations of personal events in the lives of our faculty members and staff may not be paid from department funds, this policy does not intend to discourage these events from taking place. Nothing in this policy or guidelines is intended to discourage faculty and staff voluntarily contributing personal money to section social funds.
