Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine has adopted the following policy with respect to salary for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Director positions and Direct Contact Teaching.

Director Positions

Compensation for Director Positions is determined by the respective PGME and UGME offices.

Payment of Non-GFT Physicians for Direct Contact Student Teaching

  • Non-GFT Physicians will be paid for each hour of direct contact teaching (Medicine I – IV) as per information collected from the Faculty Undergraduate Medicine Office and the Department of Internal Medicine Undergraduate Office.
  • Individuals will be paid in accordance with the rate established by the Department Head from the COPSE/Clerkship account at the University of Manitoba. The current rate is $100/per hour. Payments are processed once per year for the previous academic year.

Payment for GFT Physicians for Direct Contact Student Teaching

  • GFT physicians will be paid for each hour of direct contact teaching (Medicine I – IV) as per information collected from the Faculty Undergraduate Medicine Office and the Department of Internal Medicine Undergraduate Office.
  • The first 15 hours of direct contact teaching for each GFT will be excluded from payment as GFT’s receive base salary for academic physicians.
  • Individuals will be paid in accordance with the rate established by the Department Head from the COPSE/Clerkship account at the University of Manitoba, but not less than $80.00 for each hour of direct contact teaching of more than 15 hours.
