Performance reviews are mandated by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Hospital Medical Staff By-Laws and by the University of Manitoba.
The Department of Internal Medicine has developed a number of tools to assess clinical workload, training effectiveness and research productivity.
All relevant information will be submitted on an annual basis by the department.
The Department of Internal Medicine will conduct the performance review of its faculty members for the period of January 1 - December 31 to fulfill university policy requirements.
GFT members are reviewed annually and non-GFTs are reviewed biennially (years ending in odd numbers i.e. in 2020 for the 2019 year)

|Send the following forms to each section member for them to complete and return to the Section Head:

|Review the submitted items listed above (but not with the faculty member, that comes later)·

|Arrange a meeting with the Department Head (204-787-7772) to discuss each section member’s performance including your own.
Submit your personal 2018 Report package to the Department Head's office two weeks prior to your meeting.
Bring each section member’s package of forms to the meeting (Do not send prior to the meeting).

|Schedule Performance Feedback meetings with each section member to review their performance and discuss future goals. The Department Head is not present at this meeting.

|After the Performance Feedback meetings, for your section, submit the following to the Department Head for each section member: *Annual Performance Report: January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018

|Arrange a meeting with the Department Head to discuss your own performance (using the package submitted by May 31st):Performance Feedback Summary and Signature Form (Signed)||June 30, 2019|
Once all the sections have submitted their reports, the information will be compiled by the Department Head's office who will then submit a complete report for the Department of Internal Medicine to the Office of Academic Affairs, as required.
- The Section Head completes the Annual Workload Evaluation using the Relative Workload Evaluation Scale. [Section Heads]] will be asked to review this information on an annual basis and are advised to submit any changes within 30 working days. These changes will be discussed with the Department Head.
- Resident Evaluation of Faculty - Biennial (every two years) reports are available to individual Faculty, Program Directors and Section Heads.
- Research Evaluation – For Faculty designated as having 25% or greater research protected time and who receive commensurate salary support. These reviews are to be conducted in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Department’s Research and Faculty Development Committee, a minimum of every five (5) years.
- Clinical Evaluation – Staff/patient interaction and compliance with (availability, punctuality, involvement in discharge planning, etc.). This tool will be completed by nursing and allied health staff team member.
