Key Processes and Dates for New Residents Developing their Required Research/QI Project

1.Identify a mentor/project supervisor for a QI or research project by November 1st.
a. It is up to you make initial contact with potential mentors/supervisors. There are several strategies available to you
i. Faculty list of mentors looking for students
ii. Approach Section Head or Faculty members in your area of interest
iii. Word of mouth from residents that preceded you
iv. Approach Vetting and Oversight Group (VOG) members for guidance
2. Before December 1st - Work with mentor to develop a suitable research or QI project

3. December 1st of R1 year - Submit the project proposal to the Resident Research and QI VOG
a. Initial VOG Approval Format Initial VOG Approval Form.doc
b. Submit to Vetting and Oversight Group Admin Support - Rachelle Robles (rrobles@sogh.mb.ca )
4. Between January 1st to March 30th - Present your project idea to VOG
a. Precise date will be announced in January of that year
b. VOG Committee will set up meetings with all residents
