BiographyDr. Sepideh Pooyania completed her specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Manitoba and obtained her FRCPC certificate in 2009, when she joined the section of PM&R as stroke physiatrist. She has certifications in EMG by the Canadian Society of Neurophysiologists and the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
She is the Service Chief for the Stroke Rehab program of Shared Health Services. She also provides outpatient care in clinics around stroke rehabilitation, spasticity, musculoskeletal medicine and electrodiagnostic studies. Dr. Pooyania has been a part of writing group of Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care in 2018 and 2019. She was a Royal College Examiner in Physical Medicine and Rehab from 2015-2018.
Dr. Pooyania has received several competitive grant funds and had multiple publications in the field of stroke rehab. Dr. Pooyania is the UOM Primary Investigator for The trials and tribulations of developing a stroke recovery clinical trial platform. In 2019 she received $190,000 grant from Stroke Recovery Network and Health Canada to establish the platform and begin studies including FLOW Trial.
